Why is my profile at the back of the Find a Tutor Page?
Written by Daphne Lim - Updated
While it is a fair concern, there's nothing to worry about. The Find a Tutor page has a “weighted random” algorithm
- It is weighted to favour available tutors with the lowest number of student pairings. This is to show new tutors and tutors with fewer pairings to customers and encourage them to make requests.
- The Find a Tutor page is also randomised every few hours, to ensure we always display new tutors. If your profile was at the back when you looked, check again in a few hours and it should be in a new location!
This ensures that we prioritise tutors with fewer pairings, while also displaying them in a randomised order to give everyone a fair chance of getting new pairings! If you are not receiving requests, it is usually a result of your profile or another related factor. The best thing to do is to try and make your profile more attractive to potential customers. This guide can help maximise your chances of getting requests.
How do I get more Students to Request me?
As mentioned above, improving your profile is always the first thing you should do. Another good tip is to start doing in-person lessons (more and more students are looking for in-person tutoring after Covid).
