What do I do when it's really difficult to schedule or organise a lesson with my student?

Written by Daphne Lim - Updated

Sometimes you just won’t be able to fit in lessons with a student as the both of you are busy, or if the student is especially flaky. If you’ve attempted to organise a lesson a few times to no avail, here’s what you can say:

Hi STUDENT, unfortunately it seems like we can't seem to find a time that works for us at all! I think it would be best to cancel our tutoring for now and if you are still looking for help, please take a look at the tutor's available here as there may be someone able to help you in your schedule: https://kisacademics.com/find-a-tutor. All the best!

Here are the possible replies you may get, and what you should do:

No Longer Require Tutoring

If the student replies to say they no longer require tutoring anymore, you can simply deactivate the pairing on the KIS App.

My Student wants Intermittent tutoring

If your student replies to say that they do not require regular lessons, but still want to have your contact in case they need help, it is up to you if you wish to continue the pairing. Most tutors are happy to take on an ad-hoc student, but you are not obligated to continue tutoring them if you do not want to. Please refer to this article for your next steps: Managing Intermittent or Infrequent Lessons

You get Ghosted

Chances are, you probably will not get a response. If you do not hear back from the customer 48 hours after sending the last text, it is safe to simply deactivate the pairing on the KIS App too.

Re-activating a Pairing

Sometimes, this message may kick the customer into action, but you may have already deactivated the pairing. No stress, just refer to this article: How do I restart or re-activate a pairing that was previously deactivated?

If you still have questions, shoot a message to the #help channel on Slack or send us an email at contact@kisacademics.com
