What should I do if Parents/Students are trying to haggle or negotiate rates?

KIS Academics has a set pricing structure, as seen on our website: KIS Academics Pricing

This payment structure is set, and cannot be changed for private lessons to prevent any confusion or negotiation on the part of students/clients.

If you get approached by a potential client who tries to haggle pay, please send them the following message:

 

Hi CUSTOMER_NAME,

Unfortunately KIS Academics has a set pricing structure that I can't change or negotiate. If you'd like a discount on lessons, that can be arranged if you have any other friends you'd like to do small group lessons with, but otherwise there are no discounts on private one-to-one lessons. If you've got any questions, please get in touch with the KIS Academics Team on +61485868009 and they will discuss things further with you.

Current Student/Parent is asking for a Discount

You may come across parents who would like a discount, especially if their child is receiving tuition for multiple subjects, or if they have a few children getting tuition from you. In that case, here is a message template you can send them:

 

Hi CUSTOMER_NAME,

Thank you for trusting me enough to bring this concern up with me! I hear you, and [some students have also brought up this concern with me before (only if applicable to you)].

KIS Academics has a set pricing structure to ensure that tutors are paid fairly, and it also encompasses free access to our KIS Plus online courses, making it very affordable, actually.However, I understand if weekly lessons add up, and am happy to discuss various ways we could reduce costs a little: 

1)Group tutoring: if you have friends that you'd like to do small group lessons with, prices can be reduced: https://kisacademics.com/w/bring-a-friend-and-save

2)Reduce Frequency of Sessions: we can have shorter sessions or have less sessions (i.e. don't have lessons every week)

3)Referral Bonus: KIS Academics has a referral bonus where if you refer a friend to KIS using your code, and they successfully have a paid lesson, KIS will gift you a free lesson!

Again, I hear you, and I truly appreciate you bringing this up with me. I am sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I also hope you can understand where I'm coming from. 

If they have more admin questions, send the student to our contact us page, where they can reach out to us for help directly. 

 

Pay disputes are super annoying and can be awkward for you as a tutor to deal with. Feel free to handball them off and we'll take care of them, along with any customers who are happy to do small group lessons as an alternative 😊
