Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Written by Daphne Lim - Updated
All tutors are required to hold a valid Working With Children Check that is valid for completing paid work in their state
It’s very likely that you already carry one of these if you have completed or intend to complete private tutoring. If you don’t have one at the time of contract signing, please make sure to apply for one immediately!
How do I sign up for a WWCC?
All you need to do is go to your state’s WWCC/Blue Card application portal and apply for a card. The application process will differ slightly between locations but in most cases will require you to upload some photo verification and fill out a form. Here are the links to relevant application websites:
If you don’t already hold one, please make sure to fill out a form for a WWCC after signing the KIS Contract.
What do I do while waiting for my WWCC to arrive?
You are allowed to work while your WWCC is still processing, unless you are a Queensland Tutor in which case you must receive confirmation of your Blue Card successful application before commencing work.
For all other states, please submit a screenshot of your receipt or the email stating your WWCC is processing when onboarding. You can edit that information later on after you've received your WWCC.
How do I update my WWCC details?
If you ever need to update your WWCC details or submit a new photo, you can do that via the KIS App by navigating to edit your profile.
What do I do if I'm under 18?
If your 18th birthday is coming up within the next 3 weeks, then we would advise you to hold off the onboarding process until you have officially turned 18. If that is not the case, you can still onboard, but take note of the following:
-
As soon as you turn 18, you will need to apply for an ‘Employee’ level Working with Children Check.
-
When submitting your onboarding form to become a KIS tutor, please attach the declaration and enter "N/A - Currently under 18" to the questions below. More information is provided in each respective step of the onboarding form.
- Once you turn 18, please sign up for a WWCC, according to the steps in this article
