Bonus Payments - Rewarding Tutor Loyalty

It's important to us that we recognise loyalty and excellence; this is why KIS Academics now provides bonus payments to eligible tutors.
For a long time, tutors have asked KIS to take a lower lesson commission (even though we have the lowest commission in the market!) and give more to the tutor. Now that we've raised our Gold tier prices, you might be wondering why you're still getting only $40 per hour. This article explains why, so please read it carefully!
How will this benefit me?
We've run some numbers and can see that over the average lifespan of a KIS tutor, these bonuses will increase your take home pay by over 10%.
We have decided to take a smaller commission, and reward tutors who stick with us, complete lessons with their students, and represent KIS Academics to the best of their abilities.
How does it work?
It's simple.
When you have a Gold tier tutor pairing at the new price of $70/hr, you become eligible for the additional bonus payments at specific intervals. There's a lot of information and data that goes into this system, but here's an overview of how it works:
- We have over 26 generous bonus payments between completing your first and 300th hour of lessons!
- When you complete 5, 10, 20, 30... 50... 100... 200... 250... 300 hours of tutoring (these are only some of the 26 bonus payments), you will be paid a bonus immediately!
- Here's one of the bonuses we've added to the system: after completing 5 hours of tutoring, you will get a bonus of $20!
How will I get these 'bonus payments'?
When you complete a certain amount of hours in tutoring, we will directly transfer the bonus to you. And this should go without saying: we use the KIS App to keep track of your lessons, so please log your lessons into the KIS App diligently, and you will get the payout whenever you hit a bonus checkpoint!
How do I keep track of these Bonuses?
On our KIS app! Go to the tabs, and select "Rewards" (circled in red), and you will be able to keep track of your bonus payments.
But I've already completed many hours of tutoring with KIS prior to this!
For this system to work, we've created a new lesson counter that's only visible to our tech team. Everyone starts at 0, meaning no one will miss out on the bonus payments!
The bonus payment only applies to Gold Tier students at the new rate of $70/hr. If your student(s) are charged $60/hr, you will not get the bonus payments.
Why are they only accessible to Gold tier students?
Good question! We thought long and hard about this, and it boils down to one simple fact:
We adjusted the prices that students pay for Gold tier based on market trends and the ever increasing quality of our gold tier tutors. We decided it would be most fair to our dedicated tutor team if we also adjust the lesson commission and give tutors more of the pie!
