Signing up for Slack

Written by Daphne Lim - Updated

KIS Academics uses Slack as our preferred method of messaging. You will only be sent the invitation link AFTER you've completed the Tutor Onboarding Course, so if you're a new hire and have not completed it, please go back to complete the course and only sign up for Slack when you're prompted to!

IMPORTANT STUFF

  1. Remember Slack etiquette is to "close the loop"

Whenever you see a message in DM or in a group channel, acknowledge that you have seen it by reacting with a 👍 or literally any emoji. This will mitigate double messages, unnecessary follow ups or miscommunications! It's really important that you do this so KIS Admin knows who's up to date on important info!

  2. Reply within 24 Hours

KIS Academics tries to offer the best possible service to students - this means replying to tutoring requests within our advertised 24 hour timeframe. If you get a tutoring request, make sure you get back to the student as soon as possible!

How to join Slack

  1. After filling out the KIS Application form, you will be been a link to join our Slack Channel! If you didn't get this link - shoot one of the KIS team a message! REMEMBER, if you're a new tutor who's still going through the Onboarding Course, please finish it and only sign up for Slack when the course tells you to!

If you've been emailed the invite link, check your emails for an invitation to the KIS Academics workspace. The workspace URL is: kisacademics.slack.com

  2. Once you've joined on your desktop, finalise your profile with your name, role and a profile picture to help others identify you. You can use the same picture KIS Academics uses on your website profile

  3. Download Slack from the app store/google play store onto your phone and laptop

  4. Once you've downloaded the app, join the workspace using the same URL: kisacademics.slack.com

  5. After signing in, open any channel and click the three dots in the top right then edit your profile based on the videos below. The guide below show you the settings you should have on

  6. Once that's done, you've successfully been added to Slack!!

If you are facing any issues signing in, take a screenshot of the issue and email contact@kisacademics.com detailing your experience and the assistance you require.
