How to use the Job Board
Written by Daphne Lim - Updated
The KIS Academics Job Board is an extra source of work and income for KIS tutors.
What is the job board?
The Job Board is an online listing of extra jobs at KIS Academics which anyone can apply for and complete. These jobs could range from writing posts for our KIS Academics blog, marking student assignments submitted through the KIS website or opportunities to expand into other paid roles at the company.
Available jobs will be highlighted blue and marked as "Open for Applications" as shown below
How does the job board work?
- A job listing will be posted in the #job-board thread on Slack, notifying anyone who is a member that it is now open for applications. A notification will also be sent into #general to remind everyone to check the Job Board. Every job will have a description of what’s required, a set of terms outlining expectations of you, and a listed pay rate.
- If you feel like you fit the description, feel free to apply! There will be a link on the post and applications usually take around 2 minutes. Jobs usually have a one week application window, and then another week to complete the job itself.
- The KIS team will choose and notify successful applicants.
- Now all you have to do is complete the job by the due date.
If you have any further questions, the job post will have a key person of contact listed at the bottom. Get in touch with them and they will help you out!
So how can you get started?
- Join the #job-board channel on Slack
- Wait for the available job posts to pop up
- Apply, apply, apply!
How will I get Paid?
We will transfer the funds to you through the KIS App. So you still need to get the KIS App set up: How do I sign up to the KIS App?
The specific pay amount for a job will be posted on the Job Board listing itself, so please check that to see how much you should be receiving. For marking assignments, refer to this article: Marking Service Payment Structure
What if I cannot finish a job for various reasons?
If you are not able to continue the job, or will not be submit it on time, please contact the key person of contact listed at the bottom of the job post. They will let you know what to do.
What kinds of Jobs can I apply for there?
As mentioned above, you can apply to write blog posts, or mark assignments, or any other odd jobs we may require tutors for.
